Questions to Ask a Clothing Manufacturer Before Ordering: Buyer Inquiry Checklist

Ask about product category experience

Start with whether the factory has made similar garments before. If you need women’s clothing, ask about dresses, blouses, skirts, pants, fabric types and finishing standards.

Ask about MOQ and sample rules

Clarify sample cost, sample time, revision policy, low MOQ options and how the sample becomes the production standard. This helps prevent confusion before money is spent.

Ask about fabric and trims

Ask whether the factory can source fabric, whether fabric MOQ applies, and how trims such as zippers, buttons, elastic, lace, labels and packaging will be confirmed.

Ask about private label support

If you are building a brand, ask about main labels, care labels, hang tags, poly bags, stickers, carton marks and any minimums for branded materials.

Ask about QC and lead time

Before ordering, ask how the factory checks cutting, sewing, measurements, finishing and packing. Also ask for a realistic production timeline instead of the fastest possible promise.
