Apparel Inspection Checklist Before Shipment

Confirm approved sample

The final goods should be compared with the approved sample for fabric, color, fit, workmanship, labels and packaging.

Check measurements by size

Randomly check key measurements from each size, including chest, waist, hip, length, sleeve, shoulder and inseam where relevant.

Inspect visible workmanship

Look for loose threads, skipped stitches, stains, holes, broken zippers, twisted seams, uneven hems and incorrect labels.

Review packing details

Check size stickers, barcodes, hang tags, care labels, poly bags, carton marks and carton quantity before shipment.

Record issues clearly

When defects are found, take photos and note quantity, severity and repair options. Clear records help the factory correct problems quickly.

What should you send the factory before agreeing inspection?

Send the approved sample reference, the latest measurement chart with tolerances, fabric and trim approvals, the order breakdown by style, colour and size, and the final label and packing instructions. Record version numbers or approval dates so the buyer, factory and inspector check the same requirements.

• Fit and measurements: identify the approved sample and size chart; list measurement points and agreed tolerances.
• Fabric and workmanship: attach approved material references and photographs of construction details that need particular attention.
• Branding and packing: provide label artwork, barcode files, folding instructions and carton assortment.
